    Description

    This is a 2 liter relief pottery stein made by Dumler & Breiden of Germany around 1900. It is 16" to the top of the pewter finial of the lid which is firmly attached to the handle through a 5
    ring hinge. The description of the stein comes from the Beer Stein Library.
    The manufacturer’s title for this stein makes reference to the Cherusci (or Cheruski) tribe, one of the principal participants in the Battle of Teutoburg Forest in 9 A.D., which resulted in a permanent halt to the expansion plans of the Roman Empire into territories east of the Rhine river.
    Unfortunately there is a hairline crack and the handle has been reattached but there are no chips and it display well.
